Phytoremediation is an effective and low-cost method for the remediation of soil contaminated by potentially toxic elements (metals and metalloids) with hyperaccumulating plants. This study analyzed hyperaccumulator publications using data from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) (1992–2020). We explored the research status on this topic by creating a series of scientific maps using VOSviewer, HistCite Pro, and CiteSpace. The results showed that the total number of publications in this field shows an upward trend. Dr. Xiaoe Yang is the most productive researcher on hyperaccumulators and has the broadest international collaboration network. The Chinese Academy of Sciences (China), Zhejiang University (China), and the University of Florida (USA) are the top three most productive institutions in the field. China, the USA, and India are the top three most productive countries. The most widely used journals were the International Journal of Phytoremediation, Environmental Science and Pollution Research, and Chemosphere. Co-occurrence and citation analysis were used to identify the most influential publications in this field. In addition, possible knowledge gaps and perspectives for future studies are also presented.

Iron-sulfide minerals in benthic sediments may sequester potentially toxic trace elements that are introduced to estuaries from natural and anthropogenic sources (Chapman et al., 1998, Morse and Luther, 1999, Simpson et al., 2002 and Teasdale et al., 2003). Understanding iron-sulfide formation in benthic sediments is therefore central to assessing the risk posed by sedimentary trace elements (Machado et al., 2004, Burton et al., 2005a and Burton et al., 2006a). This report provides a baseline description of sedimentary iron-sulfide and trace element behaviour in Coombabah Lake – a sub-tropical estuarine lake in southern Moreton Bay, Australia (Fig. 1).

This paper outlines the necessity and suitability of in-line inspection (ILI) using intelligent pigging for Corrosion Resistant Alloy (CRA) subsea clad pipelines through an incident that occurred during a baseline survey performed on a 20-inch y CRA clad pipeline of 2.7 km long. In this incident, an ultrasonic (UT) intelligent pigging tool was impacted and resulted in damage to the pipeline's clad layer. This damage was due to the collosion of the sealing pigs with the rear of the UT intelligent pigging tool, resulting in the UT intelligent pigging tool to get stuck and stop at the end of the pipeline. Pressure surges were used to dislodge the UT intelligent pigging tool, but caused the UT pig to be crashed into the pig receiver, resulting in severe damage to the UT pigging tool. The analysis of the metal swarf recovered from the pig receiver revealed that the damage was limited to the pipeline's clad layer. It was also revealed that a bypass has occurred to the sealing pigs causing damage to the sensor carriers of the intelligent pigging tool.

Drawing on interviews with, and ethnographic observations of, evangelical Christian musicians with experience of contemporary worship music-as well as secular heavy metal and punk rock-this article analyses the competing value relations underpinning contemporary evangelical musicianship. Developing the work of Joel Robbins on value theory and the anthropology of Christianity and the work of Klisala Harrison on ethnomusicology, this article analyses four examples of different value relations between religious service and expressive individualism: strong monism, stable monism, stable pluralism, unstable pluralism. It is shown through case studies of individual musicians that, whereas strong value monist approaches to evangelical musicianship efface the presence of the subjective self and stable monist approaches suspend its presence, stable pluralism allows both religious and secular vocations to co-exist in separate social spaces, while strong value pluralist approaches to evangelical musicianship emphasise or celebrate the presence of the subjective self and, in so doing, sometimes undermine the ritual aims of congregational worship.

Here we report a single molecule that demonstrates varying response in different solvents, therefore enabling the combination of probe and solvent to generate the required array diversity. Seven toxic metal ions were introduced as aqueous samples, and PCA and LDA techniques applied. The array could correctly identify all metals in pure water samples, all metals in doped lake-water samples. Further, we have explored the limit of detection of the system for two metal ions, Cu(ii) and Hg(ii), confirming the promise of the system as a candidate to identify toxic metals in environmental water sources.

To test an assumption that organic soil can ameliorate nutritional disorders associated with metal and salinity stresses, we exposed salt-sensitive strawberry and lettuce to four salinity (0–60 mM NaCl) and three contamination (0.3–5 mg Cd/kg) rates in peat (pHH2O = 5.5). The results showed that, even at 20 mM NaCl, salinity stress exerted a dominant effect on rhizosphere biogeochemistry and physiological processes, inducing leaf-edge burns, chlorosis/necrosis, reducing vegetative growth in crops at ≥40 mM, NaCl mortality was induced in strawberry. Signifiacntly decreased K/Na, Ca/Na and Mg/Na concentration ratios with raising salinity were confirmed in all tissues. The combined CdxNaCl stresses (vs. control) increased leaf Cd accumulation (up to 42-fold in lettuce and 23-fold in strawberry), whereas NaCl salinity increased the accumulation of Zn (>1.5-fold) and Cu (up to 1.2-fold) in leaves. Lettuce accumulated the toxic Cd concentration (up to 12.6 mg/kg) in leaves, suggesting the strong root-to-shoot transport of Cd. In strawberry Cd, concentration was similar (and sub-toxic) in fruits and leaves, 2.28 and 1.86 mg/kg, respectively, suggesting lower Cd root-to-shoot translocation, and similar Cd mobility in the xylem and phloem. Additionally, the accumulation of Cd in strawberry fruits was exacerbated at high NaCl exposure (60 mM) compared with lower NaCl concentrations. Thus, in salinized, slightly acidic and organically rich rhizosphere, pronounced organo- and/or chloro-complexation likely shifted metal biogeochemistry toward increased mobility and phytoavailability (with metal adsorption restricted due to Na+ oversaturation of the caton exchange complex in the substrate), confirming the importance of quality water and soils in avoiding abiotic stresses and producing non-contaminated food.
