- Abstract
- "In this thesis, I am concerned about the ways in which privileged representations of refugee women in Australian government settlement education policy might re-institute their marginality and disadvantage. Participation in education confers a variety of benefits on individuals and exclusion or marginalisation from it is conversly detrimental, so representations in education policy are of importance. Framed from a post-structural, feminist perspective, my overarching purpose in this work is to interrupt the kinds of dominant representations of refugee women which currently prevail in policy". -- Abstract; Doctor of Philosophy
