It is unclear whether task representation generated in imagery simulates performance demands in reacting to stimuli. This study investigated whether perceptual and motor control processes used to react to unpredictable stimuli and initiate an ipsilateral movement were replicated during imagery. Fifty-nine undergraduate students (Mage = 27.01 years, SD = 8.30) completed 30 simple, two-choice congruent and two-choice incongruent ipsilateral finger–foot movement trials in response to a physically presented or imagined stimulus. The results appear to indicate that participants were reacting to imagined and actual stimuli, as the ipsilateral finger–foot programming rule was maintained and reaction time initially slowed as task difficulty increased. These findings support theoretical similarities between imagery and physical performance of reaction tasks, with imagers generating and reacting to unpredictable stimuli. Slower imagery performance than physical performance on the two-choice incongruent task may indicate that task complexity is limited during imagery. Variation in results between the imagery and physical conditions potentially supports that imagers were able to react to the imagined stimulus. However, exploratory processes used to react to stimuli were not replicated during imagery. The present findings have potentially significant implications for the functional and applied use of imagery for skill acquisition.

Feminist identity is a multidimensional construct, associated with significant physical and psychological outcomes. Despite this, it has previously been largely conceptualised and measured as unidimensional. To address this limitation, we developed a multidimensional measure of feminist identity using the framework of social identity theory. A total of 1493 respondents (81.8% women, 16.6% men, 1.5% other genders) aged between 18 and 75 years ( M= 31.55, SD =11.37) completed an online survey. Following Confirmatory Factor Analysis, expert evaluation ( N = 21), and testing of the model in a separate sample ( N = 504), the Feminist Social Identity Scale (FSIS) was created. The FSIS is comprised of 36-items which measure feminist identity across 12 subscales and has excellent internal consistency, test-retest reliability, and validity indices. Latent Class Analysis revealed that the FSIS successfully distinguishes between different levels of feminist identity. The FSIS will aid future researchers to examine feminist identity as a multidimensional construct, avoiding the limitations of single construct measures.

Snapchat is emerging as a popular image-based instant messaging service. Aiming to provide the first insight into the characteristics of Snapchat users, this study (N = 235) drew on the limited existing Snapchat research base, uses and gratifications theory, and other social media research to derive a range of research questions about Snapchat users vs. non-users. As hypothesised, Snapchat users were younger, placed significantly more importance on social connectedness than non-users, reported significantly greater reliance on graphics in communication, were more likely engage with technology regularly, had greater comfort with technological multitasking, and showed a stronger preference for online social interaction than non-users. However, in contrast to predictions, a desire for instantaneous interaction and reward was not significantly associated with Snapchat use. The findings are considered in terms of a proposed research agenda, including relevant theoretical paradigms (such as belongingness, technology acceptance, psycholinguistic, and semiotic theories) and applied outcomes (such as social capital and communication). Frameworks for future Snapchat research are provided. •First investigation of Snapchat user vs. non-user characteristics.•Snapchat users were younger and use graphics, technology, and multitask more often.•Snapchat users place greater importance on social connectedness.•Snapchat users have a stronger preference for online social interaction.•Relevant theory and applications are suggested in terms of a Snapchat research agenda.

This scoping review paper was aimed at exploring the current literature's scope and categorizing various types of cybersecurity challenges in BCT. Databases such as Elsevier, ResearchGate, IEEE, ScienceDirect, and ABI/INFORM Collection (ProQuest) were searched using a combination of terms, and after rigorous screening, 51 research studies were found relevant. Data coding was performed following a framework proposed for scoping review. After careful analysis, thirty different types of cybersecurity challenges in BCT were categorized into six standardized classes. Our results show that most of the studies disclose cybersecurity challenges in BCT generally without pointing to any specific industry sector, and to a very little extent, few papers reveal cybersecurity challenges in BCT related to specific industry sectors. Also, prior studies barely investigated the strategies to minimize cybersecurity challenges in BCT. Based on gap identification, future research avenues were proposed for scholars.

This study investigated whether self-reported willingness to emotionally manipulate (EM) day-to-day and willingness to manipulate at work are related constructs, by analysing the factor structures and relationships of the Trait EM Willingness in General and Work Scale, as well as considering gender effects. Respondents (567 employees 365 females, 199 males, 3 other) were asked how often they engaged in various manipulative behaviours in day-to-day and work contexts. Exploratory and Confirmatory factor analyses analysed split halves of the responses. Three factors emerged: Work-Related Malicious EM Willingness, General Malicious EM Willingness, and Disingenuousness (items reflecting insincerity and deceit), demonstrating a contextual influence on malicious EM. The three-factor structure fitted the data well and was reliable, however, discriminant validity was not evident as Work-Related and General Malicious EM Willingness were highly correlated. The correlations demonstrate the trait-like consistency of malicious manipulation. The model achieved better fit for the male data, indicating the superiority of items at measuring EM in males. Endorsement of malicious EM at work was higher in males, consistent with the masculine-agentic and feminine-communal traits in social role theory. These findings add to understanding of the dark side of emotion, and reveal another layer of complexity to this problematic work behaviour. •Explores nature of emotional manipulation willingness at work and in daily life.•Two types of EM Willingness were identified: malicious and disingenuousness.•Malicious EM appears to be influenced by context of workplace.•The three-factor model of EM achieved better fit for the male data.•People at work may use a variety of deceptive techniques to achieve their goals.

Security-constrained optimal power flow (SCOPF) is an important problem in power system operation. Dynamic thermal rating (DTR), as an effective method to increase transmission capacity of power systems, has been recently considered in some optimal power flow (OPF) and SCOPF models. Additionally, in today power systems, OPF problem involves various objectives leading to multi-objective OPF models. In this paper, a new multi-objective SCOPF model considering DTR of transmission lines is presented. In addition, a new multi-objective solution method is proposed to solve the multi-objective SCOPF problem. The proposed method is an enhanced version of goal attainment technique in which the search capability of this technique to cover borders of the Pareto frontier is enhanced. The proposed multi-objective DTR-included SCOPF model as well as the proposed multi-objective solution method are tested on the IEEE 118-bus test system and the obtained results are compared with the results of other alternatives. •A new multi-objective DTR-included SCOPF model is presented.•A new multi-objective solution method is proposed.•Proposed method can search the beyond-utopia-hyperplane parts of Pareto frontier.•Effectiveness of the proposed model and proposed method is extensively evaluated.

Impulsive urgency describes the tendency to act rashly when experiencing extreme emotions. This Australian study aimed to investigate the predictive utility of impulsivity, including impulsive urgency (positive and negative), across a range of problem behaviours. Data from two community samples, one retrospective (n = 281) and one current (n = 604), were analysed using hierarchical regression to determine which facets of impulsivity, as assessed with a comprehensive scale (i.e. negative urgency, positive urgency, lack or premeditation, lack of perseverance, and sensation seeking), best predicted a series of problem behaviours (i.e. problem gambling, disorderly alcohol use, online gambling disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder behaviours, and social media addiction). The impulsive urgency facets were shown to be significant predictors across the behaviours examined. More specifically, negative urgency was the strongest predictor of disorderly alcohol use, obsessive-compulsive disorder behaviours, and social media addiction. Positive urgency was associated with problem gambling and online gambling disorder behaviours. These findings suggest that impulsive urgency is a key contributing factor in many behavioural problems and that the valence of the urgency is an important consideration when addressing a broad range of psychopathologies.
