- Abstract
- This research is about the take – up of Western ideas and Western knowledge in Chinese organizations. The research addresses the fundamental issues for Chinese companies as recipients of the knowledge and also addresses the issues of understanding knowledge diffusion processes and the strategic management of growing an organization that is based, partly, on externally sourced capital and technology. Specifically, using the Cohen and Levinthal (1990) notion of absorptive capacity (ACAP), the paper reports on some preliminary findings on ACAP in China, and sets out a model that will be used for further empirical work.
