Description:
Mining of narrow vein mineralisation, invariably depending on the mining method selected, involves the extraction of both ore and waste rock. The level to which mining of waste rock can be minimised depends on numerous factors, but patticularly the thickness and dip of the deposit. Resue mining is a method of mining that allows spl it face firing within stopes to allow waste and ore to be mined separately, allowing dilution to be minimised. This paper examines the technique of resue firing and its applicabil ity to the mi ning of narrow vein deposits. Panicular emphasis is placed on the conditions in which resue mi ning presents a suitable option for mining of narrow veins.

Description:
In classical drill and blast underground mining methods, especially narrow vein operations economic quantities of broken ore can be left behind following normal mucking operations on the stope floors. The ore left behind can have significant economic value and if not collected can be lost forever. This paper reviews techniques for cleaning this material from stopes that have been used in the past and reviews possible modern techniques that can be applied to ensure this valuable material is removed from slopes.
