- Abstract
- Three men are posing by a heap of palings containing 9,600 six foot lengths, on W. Cornthwaite's property at Thorpdale South. Paling splitting was the predominant use of timber in the Thorpdale-Childers area from the 1880s til the opening of the Moe-Thorpdale railway line in 1888, when mills were set up to saw timber.; Item held by Gippsland and Regional Studies Collection, Federation University Australia.
