- Abstract
- Text comprehension is a psychological activity that has attracted the interest of cognitive science for a long time, Nevertheless, just recently, neuroscientific studies have emerged in order to unveil the neural machinery behind this activity. This paper reviews some of the classical and, particularly, current works in cognitive science and new advances in the neuroscience of text comprehension. Later on, a potential neurocognitive model for text comprehension based on the core concepts of the cognitive and neuroscientific approaches is presented. This model preserves the predictions made by cognitive models as regards comprehension and the architecture of the new neuropsychological models as regards neurocognitive development. Finally, questions for future research in both domains and some general conclusions are offered.; C1
