- Abstract
- Learning to manage academic time can be a challenge for early career researchers (ECRs) as their workloads include a diverse range of responsibilities, including teaching, researching, serving the university and managing others. This chapter considers conceptions of academic time through the experience of moving from a PhD candidature to landing a position as a full-time academic. A contrast is presented to the rushed notions of academic time as defined in research literature with the slower, embodied experiences of being a yoga practitioner. Narratives of academic time are challenged through lessons learned through various yoga practices, with an embodied reclaiming of ECR learning, community and experiences. © 2025 selection and editorial matter, Sharon McDonough and Narelle Lemo.
