- Abstract
- This paper reports findings from a study that investigated the role of Upper Echelon (UE) characteristics and organisational factors in evaluating strategic alliances performance. Alliance relationships were explored within and between the travel sector, and with other tourism sectors of accommodation and transport. Study results indicate high level of of interaction through alliances between these sectors and that strategic alliances are an effective tool of enhancing organizational performance. UE characteristics (experience tenure, and risk taking attitudes) and organizational factors (subsector, number of employees, turnover and category) were found to be influential in assessing alliance performance.; E1
