Abstract: "The thesis argues that reading and spelling are interdependent and complex processes, and that "good" readers. but "poor" spellers, read in ways which do not assist in their developing spelling repertoires: their reading behaviours contribute to overall text meanings wihout contributing to individual word knowledge.
