Abstract: This study draws on the perceived organisational support theory to examine how international assignees’ perceptions of support from their organisations influence their adjustment, satisfaction and overall assignment success. The perceived organisational support theory maintains that employees evaluate the extent to which organisations are concerned about their general wellbeing. The investigation was carried out with survey data obtained from 229 expatriates based in multinational subsidiaries in Ghana. Findings indicate that perceived organisational support has significant positive effects on expatriate adjustment, satisfaction and overall assignment success. The study has implications for both international human resource management researchers and practitioners.
