- Description: Flexible operation of post-combustion CO2 capture (PCC) plants can improve efficiency through coordinating the balance between consumer demands for electricity and CO2 emission reductions. This strategy however, will impose process disturbances and the immediate and long term impact is unclear. There is a justified need for the development of accurate dynamic PCC models, as well as practical experience in dynamic operation of PCC pilot plants. This paper presents CSIRO PCC pilot plant data from the 2012 and 2013 dynamic campaigns using MEA solvent. The step-change approach to dynamic plant operation was implemented and the use of density meters to instantaneously measure CO2 loading instantaneously was investigated.

- Description: A new reliability evaluation methodology for multistate weighted k-out-of-n systems is presented in this article. The present value of the cash flow generated by the system components is used as a reliability value. We take a financial view of reliability and consider functioning periods and the time value of money in system reliability analysis. Two approaches, the universal generating function (UGF) and recursive algorithm, are applied to evaluate the reliability of the multistate weighted k-out-of-n system. An illustrative example is calculated based on the proposed system reliability evaluation methodology. It is shown that this evaluation method can also be used to find the value of the maintenance policy. Finally, the UGF and recursive algorithm approaches are compared with each other for large system reliability assessment. - Description: The objective of this paper is to analyse the education of project management (PM) and its practical relevance in New Zealand. The research has been done through a survey analysis of PM practitioners and academics. The PM practitioners were asked which PM topics are widely used in the industry. The academics were also asked through a parallel survey which PM topics are considered important at a tertiary level and taught to students. It can be seen from the results that contemporary education of PM has improved vastly and is relevant with its practice. - Description: This paper presents a system dynamic modeling technique for reliability centered maintenance (RCM). It provides a simulation model to analyze the impact of maintenance strategies such as preventive and corrective maintenance on system availability. Also, maintenance cost is associated with the model to have an optimization view for a manufacturing system. As a result, the optimal decisions can be made based on the results of the model. In addition, sensitivity analysis has been conducted for various parameters in the simulation model. The results were compared and discussed for various conditions.

- Description: The purpose of this paper is to propose a modified version of Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to alleviate its drawbacks. FMEA is an important tool in risk evaluation and finding the priority of potential failure modes for corrective actions. In the proposed method, the Universal Generating Function (UGF) approach has been used to improve the assessment capability of the conventional Risk Priority Number (RPN) in ranking. The new method is named as URPN. It generates the most number of unique values in comparison with the previous methods and considers relative importance for the parameters while it is easy to compute. More unique numbers help to avoid from having the same priority level for different failure modes which represent various risk levels. A case study has been employed to demonstrate that the URPN not only can improve the shortcomings but also is able to provide accurate values for risk assessment. - Description: This study concentrates on optimizing a multi-state weighted k-out-of-n system consisting of different types of reparable components. An optimization model is developed to decide upon both optimal redundancy allocation and best maintenance activities for reliability allocation. The optimization model is to maximize system reliability and minimize system cost simultaneously. To reach this goal, a financial view has been employed to estimate the system reliability, and combine it with system cost. The proposed model determines the number of each component type in the system, and the maintenance actions and the time at which they should be applied. - Description: Improving the method for selecting risk-based competing improvement strategies has equal importance with failure risk quantification inthe FMEA methodology. Nevertheless, there are few studies which focus on this issue. Furthermore, the influence of factors relating to the businessenvironment which may support or derail improvement efforts is not considered in previous studies. In order to address these limitations, a model is proposed in which the impact of environmental factors is considered byintegrating SWOT analysis into the FMEA method in order to support the appraisal of competing risk-based improvement efforts. The impact of SWOTvariables is deployed using a decision support model based upon the benefit, cost, opportunity, risk and organisational readiness index (BCOR2) approach inorder for the FMEA team to select from competing corrective actions. A case example from industry is provided in which the proposed model is applied. This example illustrates that this new model contributes successfully to good practice by identifying the most appropriate corrective action option to take andimproves upon the decisions provided by existing developments of the FMEA methodology.
Triassic reservoir characteristics of the Bird's Head, New Guinea, Indonesia : New insight from provenance study

- Description: The Bird's Head area of New Guinea is underlain by Australian continental crust and has relatively complete Palaeozoic to Recent stratigraphic record. One of the siliciclastic formations of the Bird's Head is the Tipuma Formation. Its age has been estimated as Triassic to Jurassic and is a potentially important hydrocarbon reservoir. New fieldwork was carried out, complemented by analysis of light and heavy minerals, U-Pb zircon geochronology, and quartz CL luminescence study. The Tipuma Formation was previously dated only by its stratigraphic position and was suggested to have been deposited in a continental passive margin. This study shows sandstones and conglomerates were sourced from acid volcanic, metamorphic, and recycled sedimentary rocks to the north, and from the North Australian Craton. Cathodoluminescence study on detrital quartz supports the importance of the important of volcanic quartz. The quartz provenance of sandstones from the Lower, Middle and Upper Members of the Tipuma Formation are dominated by low-T metamorphic and volcanic with little plutonic origin and there is some variation with stratigraphic position and in the Middle Member the abundance of volcanic quartz declines. The youngest zircon ages indicate it was deposited in the Triassic. Permo-Triassic (205-275 Ma), Neoproterozoic (c. 975 Ma), Early Mesoproterozoic (1.4-1.6 Ga), and Paleopro-terozoic (1.8-2.0 Ga) populations, with a few grains of Archaean age (2.8-3.2 Ga) characterized most Tipuma Formation sandstones. The Tipuma Formation was probably not deposited in a simple continental block setting and was influenced by volcanic activity in the Bird's Head during its deposition. The long-lived Palaeozoic volcanic activity interpreted to indicate subduction of the palaeo-Pacific oceanic plate under the Australian continent associated with an Andean-type active margin. The decline of the abundance of volcanic quartz, Permo-Triassic zircons, and increase in Carboniferous and Proterozoic zircons within the Middle Member indicate a reduced contribution of sediment from the arc and an increased contribution of sediment from northern Australia.

- Description: Industries have been facing ever-increasing challenges to do more with less under ongoing budget constraints. They are pushing the boundary by challenging the OEM recommended maintenance intervals and relaxing or tightening based on where it is needed. This is also evident in water sector where industries are trying to do targeted maintenance based on balancing costs, performances and risks. The unexpected failures, the down time associated with such failures, the environmental overflows and, the increasing maintenance costs are major challenges all wastewater reticulation and distribution networks. Industries have been working hard to increase the availability of equipment and reduce the life-cycle cost without compromising safety and environmental targets. Risk-based maintenance (RBM) strategy is useful for allocation of maintenance resources where first allocation occurs to the highest risk item and progressively allocated till it reached budget limits. This paper is based on findings from a study covering 186 sewerage pumping stations of Townsville Water in North of Queensland in Australia. This study covered identifying the critical subsystems and mitigating the risks of failure of those subsystems. Implementation of risk based maintenance strategy was useful in further enhancing reliability and reduction of maintenance costs. © 2019 IEEE.
