- Abstract
- This paper presents a property rights view of stakeholder reputations based on a study of stakeholder reputation formation in the mining industry. The findings of the study indicate that stakeholder reputations and other valuable firm resources may be complimentary resources in the resource based view of the firm. In particular, the place based nature of reputation with communities and the nature of competitive activity in the mining industry, based on gaining and maintaining access to mineral resources – social licence to operate – have implications for reputations as a strategic resource for the mining industry.; E1
