Performed in the Deluxe Spiegeltent, corner of Sturt and Armstrong Streets, Ballarat - as part of the Ballarat Cabaret Fesival Cabaret revolves around English cabaret performer Sally Bowles and her relationship with the young American writer Cliff Bradshaw. Alongside Sally and Cliff’s hope of something better is the doomed romance between German boarding house owner Fräulein Schneider and her elderly suitor Herr Schultz, a Jewish fruit vendor. Pulling the strings of the play is the enigmatic EmCee of the Kit Kat Klub, a dark and sometimes dangerous place. Written by Joe Masteroff based on the work of Christopher Isherwood with music and lyrics by John Kander and Fred Ebb, and brought to you by the team that produced last year's spectacular42nd Street.

To be opened by Associate Professor Jennifer Jones-O'Neill, Deputy Dean Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Faculty of Education and Arts, Federation University on Thu 20 Feb @ 5.30, for 6pm, at the Post Office Gallery, Ballarat. The Post Office Gallery's very popular annual survey exhibition will showcase practicing contemporary artists who are lecturers or Research Associates of the Arts Academy, Ballarat and for the first year Visual Arts lecturers at Gippsland campus in the mix!. This live performance, Trilogy, We create the image together, is a trilogy of performance images that are evocative of Pagan rites, that gradually bare the body with a haunting present that does not go away. We make the Image Together are the words that Reverend Desmond Tutu spoke recently in honour of Nelson Mandela’s life. Humanity creates images that are transmitted collectively influencing consequent actions that follow. Some actions are some positive some are negative, it depends on the perception of meaning. Both image and action, artist and audience are interdependent. The images from a live work never really capture what transcends during a performance. In live performances I give priority to the audience. This is very different for performances for the camera where there is no audience. Jerry Bartkowski, the official photographer, has captured these moments.
