Until the end of the early 1970s, from a history of economic thought (HET) perspective, the mainstream in economics was pluralist, but once neoclassical economics became totally dominant it claimed the mainstream as its own. Since then, alternative views and schools of economics increasingly became minorities in the discipline and were considered 'heterodox'. This book is in honour of John Edward King who has an impressive publication record in the area of economic theory with specific interest in how economic thought in the past shapes current economic theory and enforces certain paths of economic policy and economic development. This book is divided into five themes based on King's interests. The first theme looks at the challange in trying to reclaim pluralism in economics. The second faces head-on the direct collision of mainstream economics with HET and heterodox economics. The third addresses classical economic ideas, their central influence in the past and how they can still primarily guide modern capitalist economy. During the life of the Port Phillip Aboriginal Protectorate from 1839 until late 1849 some 35 children of the Protectors were associated with the Protectorate. These children have been largely neglected by scholars and rendered historically invisible. Six of them have however left 28 distinct records of their experiences. In this work we hear the voice of Protectorate children - the authors bring them out of the shadows of their fathers and allow them to appear as influential actors in their own right, with their own motivations, goals, ideas, and relationships with Aboriginal people. Detailed biographical entries, where possible, are included on every protectorate child and on their spouses. For the first time, the reminiscences of William Jackson Thomas and Albert Le Souef are published in their entirety, and all of the writings of the Protectorate's children are brought together so that their contribution to our understanding of the Protectorate may be acknowledged and interpreted.

This paper describes the progress of our ongoing research into collaborative report writing for emergency management using web technologies to improve communication and shared knowledge in emergency situations. Specifically, the work presented in this paper focuses on the development of a user attribution framework that enhances the Differential Synchronisation (diffsync) technique by exploiting its diff operation. This technique improves real-time collaborative editing for emergency management by combining the benefits of user attribution with diffsync features such as convergence, scalability, and robustness to poor network environments. As a proof of concept, we implement a prototype collaborative system and report results of simulations to test scalability, efficiency, and correctness. Further, we consider the potential benefits of this framework for web-based collaborative report writing in the context of emergency management.
